My legacy Naim system was consigned to the conservatory a while ago and I was not happy using the TV headphone jack to feed the pre-amp. The sound was quite poor. So I purchased this DAC to receive the digital signal from the TV via an optical cable and purchased a twin RCA to 5 pin din lead to feed the analogue signal to the pre amp.Installing the DAC only takes a couple of minutes, but I did not get any sound initially and this was because I needed to check the TV manual to set the output from internal speaker to external audio out. Once done, I was really impressed with the improvement in sound quality. When watching TV, DVD's, Blu Rays and YouTube videos etc I can say the sound is very entertaining. The only downside is that the volume is not very loud. Normally, I play CD's on my Naim set up at about a 35% volume, but to get the same volume through the TV via the DAC, I have to turn the dial up to about 75%.This is the first time I have purchased an external DAC and just thought 'a DAC is a DAC'. Perhaps I will leave things as they are but, maybe later, I will look at an upgrade.
