Wasn't sure what to expect. Thought I'd give it a try. On first initial listenings (Springsteen: Wild, Innocent E-Street Shuffle, B. Joel: The Stranger and Ricki Lee Jones) I would say that the bottom end sounds a bit deeper. For $50.00 I'm happy enough.

Whether you believe that record weights make a difference to sound quality only you and your own ears can tell. Personally I am sceptical of elaborate, fantastically expensive record weights costing hundreds - even thousands. That seems absurd and nothing more than conspicuous consumption. But in my experience I *do* hear a subtle difference when I use a record puck like this one -- slightly better focus in the sound, more controlled bass and highs. This particular puck is relatively light (190gms) and Pro-Ject recommends it for its models such as the Debut, the Carbon and the X1 and X2.For three years I used Project's own Clamp-It -- the same purpose but the Clamp-It is tightened onto the spindle thus holding the LP and platter more closely together by pressure rather than weight. That works well but the thread on mine has started to wear and it has become a bit troublesome to use. Considering that the Clamp-It costs nearly three times what this puck does, that is not very good. I thought Pro-Ject might agree and exchange it but I was wrong. I bought this instead and I'm happy with its performance -- and there is absolutely nothing to go wrong with it either.
