PSB Alpha AM5 50 watt Active 3/4" Tweeter, 5 1/2" Woofer Powered Bookshelf Speakers

If you like music and you don't want the fuss of setting up separates, these are all 99% of people need. I feel like a lot of YouTube channels wouldn't exist if they were honest and said "just buy the PSB Alpha AM5s and you're done". They're better with a subwoofer but do well enough on their own. They've got a very open, detailed and smooth sound, with decent bass punch. Just be sure to get them when they're on sale in the mid-$500s. I'm waiting for them to drop back down again so I can buy a second pair.

PSB AM5's are a legit speaker that is powered and has Bluetooth connectivity. You simply don't need anything else. If you don't want to add to it. You could add a DAC but it would simply negate the pure monitor intention of these speakers. For the money you simply cannot go wrong. Next step up from this would be the Dyn Audio.

Bought after head to head comparison with Kanto YU6 and Fluance. Amazing sound and bass. You won't need a subwoofer although I added an Elac sub2010 and it really helps with the mids and highs.

I ended up getting these after hearing them in a store and finding them cheaper on Amazon. Originally I had bought the Edifier S2000MKIII which had amazing reviews and we're about 100 less. The bass was loud on those but it was not detailed enough. It did not blend with the high sounds of the music. It sounded like more of a thud than a thump. After returning those and getting the PSB speakers, I immediately noticed more detail in the sound and the bass was more complex and richer sounding. I'm not an audiophile by any means but I can pick out some intracacies in music. For the price, I would say these are very well made. Overall, the sound is at a 4 out of 5. For the price for these powered speakers, I would say they are worth it! The speakers were quite a bit smaller and far less heavy than the Edifiers. It just goes to show that size of magnets in speakers is not everything.
