A replacement for a 27 year old Sony AV amplifier. A 5.1 real 95 watt per channel beast that doesn’t have Bluetooth or a dedicated computer input. I used it with 2 sets of speakers just for hifi this last year. Brought back it out of retirement after trying a couple of mini amps . The big Sony amp hummed a little bit. Which I think was normal but irritating. I was using it with my iMac linked by using the headphone socket. The 7000A has a dedicated usb input. So I get my iMac headphones socket back.It has up to date Bluetooth connectivity that allows hi definition music. With my iPhone or iPad it’s awesome . It doesn’t hum. That’s something that is very important to me after a long day when I may take my time choosing the next play list to lose myself in. Metallica and Taylor swift and John Williams movie music and Abba all feel strong. Acoustic or chaotic every detail reveals itself. It has a nice screen that displays information about the songs being played from my computer or Bluetooth devices and the current volume. It heavy and feels serious and good quality. It has simplified and modernised my set up. I’m glad I spent the extra money on this over the Yamaha 2020 and other older cheaper designs of marantz and Denon. Though I’m sure they offer value for money. Now I’ve had it a little while living with the 70 watts per channel of 7000A, I want the 9000A 100watts per channel. Even though I don’t really need it.Highly recommend this amplifier but give yourself a week to get used to the sound of it and I’m sure you will love it.
